Digital River Adds Advanced Subscription Capabilities

Offers more on-demand tools for managing subscriptions and optimizing renewals

MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Digital River, Inc. (NASDAQ: DRIV), a leading provider of global e-commerce solutions, announced it has added advanced subscription capabilities to its global e-commerce solution. Digital River’s new online subscription tools offer online merchants more flexibility in packaging their subscriptions and marketing their renewals, more detailed performance data on their subscription campaigns, and increased opportunities to raise their renewal success rates.

“We work with tens of thousands of online merchants, and many of them are introducing service-based, online subscription solutions as a key strategy for reaching their markets,” said Joel Ronning, Digital River’s CEO. “The new subscriptions capabilities that we’ve added to our e-commerce platform are designed to not only help them more cost effectively create on-demand delivery options, but also more proactively manage renewal opportunities and drive long-term customer lifetime value.”

The introduction of Digital River’s new subscription capabilities comes at a time when on-demand service models are gaining popularity among businesses and consumers making online purchases. Digital River’s advanced subscription capabilities will enable online merchants to combine automated and self-service rebilling options based on consumer preference; convert free and discounted trial options to paid and reoccurring billing subscriptions; easily update subscriber payment information to improve renewal billings; and optimize the subscription billing process with improved exception handling, failure recapture and automated end-customer communications.

In an effort to further advance its subscription technology, Digital River recently acquired THINK Subscription. THINK is a Utah-based provider of subscription management software for publishers, online service providers and new media vendors.

“By leveraging THINK technology, we plan to continue expanding our subscription capabilities for software publishers, further develop our software-as-a-service platform and explore new market opportunities,” said Ronning. “This acquisition is another strategic move to assist our publishing clients in monetizing their product lines in new ways.”
