Intuit Provides Tax Professionals With Real-Time Research Answers

New Research Option Powered by BNA Tax & Accounting Delivers Information Within Tax Software, Can Save Up to 50 Hours of Prep Time Per Season

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.–For tax professionals, convenient access to relevant and accurate information is essential. Transforming tax practitioners’ workflows to help them quickly find the right answers to key questions, Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq:INTU) is integrating a dynamic tax research option directly into its professional tax software offerings, Lacerte® and ProSeries®.

Intuit® ProLineTM Tax Research, powered by BNA, arms tax professionals with instant access to updated federal and state compliance and planning information within the context of their clients’ returns. With fully integrated, context-sensitive links on all forms and input screens in both Lacerte and ProSeries, tax professionals can use Intuit ProLine Tax Research without toggling between multiple programs, screens or offline searches, saving practitioners up to 50 hours of preparation time per season¹.

Intuit ProLine Tax Research is an innovative research solution created in alliance with BNA Tax & Accounting, a leading provider of news, analysis, and practice tools for tax and accounting professionals in business and government.

“Researching new or updated tax laws can feel like an insurmountable task when there are hundreds to thousands of tax returns to complete and promptly file,” said Jill Ward, senior vice president and general manager of the Intuit Accounting Professionals Division. “Providing time-saving methods for tax professionals to get reliable research can help them be much more productive during their busy season. The easier we can make it for them to get the information they need, the better.”

How Intuit ProLine Tax Research Works

Intuit ProLine Tax Research is a comprehensive Web-based research tool with content that is automatically and frequently updated by BNA. Because Lacerte and ProSeries input screens and forms are mapped to relevant answers to key research questions, Intuit ProLine Tax Research helps increase tax professionals’ productivity and helps them better advise their clients to obtain the best possible tax outcomes.

In addition to researching the latest tax laws, rules and regulations for their clients, practitioners now have the ability to capture a full-page view of the research results and attach it to the Lacerte professional tax return or ProSeries professional tax return. This helps practitioners document the reasons for the decisions they make and keeps the data intact as a potential audit trail.

Pricing and Availability

Intuit ProLine Tax Research can be purchased now as an unlimited annual subscription and will be available on a pay-per-use basis for Lacerte and ProSeries customers later this fall. Unlimited annual subscriptions cost $849 and automatically renew after 12 months. Each pay-per-use research document will cost $19.95. Intuit ProLine Tax Research is embedded within the tax year 2009 releases of Lacerte and ProSeries. Current Lacerte and ProSeries users can upgrade to Intuit ProLine Tax Research at a reduced rate.
